Claimer Tech. Tips

The Claimer Performance Piston Series utilizes high ring placement in conjunction with the low thermal conductivity of the alloy to maximize engine efficiency. New piston design is continually moving the top ring higher for optimum performance. As a result, the ring operates at height temperatures, and requires a larger top ring end gap. Just multiply your bore size by the ring end gap factor listed below (i.e., 4.000" bore x .0065" gap factor = .026" total top ring end gap). In addition, the improved thermal efficiency of the hypereutectic alloy also means you are keeping more usable heat in the combustion chamber and less is passing down through the piston onto the skirts and into your oil.

Finally, your hypereutectic Claimer race piston will expand 15 - 20% less than typical cast or forged applications. Because of this, and the extremely good wear characteristics of the hypereutectic alloy, you can run tight piston-to-wall clearances, such as those suggested on the application chart below.

NOTE: As a general rule, when using Claimer Performance Piston Series, ignition timing should be retarded 2 - 4 degrees. Some applications may require less ignition timing.
